LiveManager

Visual collaboration over your enterprise local area network (LAN) and corporate intranet is possible with PictureTel's H.323 standards-compliant videoconferencing product family. The LAN/Intranet product family includes LiveLAN™, the endpoint or client videoconferencing station; LiveManager™, software for bandwidth control and conference management; LiveGateway™, which provides bi-directional interoperability with H.320 standards-based videoconferencing products; and PictureTel 330™, multipoint conferencing software for visual and data collaboration over corporate LANs, intranets, and the Internet.

You'll increase productivity and customer service without devoting more resources. You'll exchange and edit documents like spreadsheets, presentations, and contracts in real time using PictureTel's award-winning T.120-compliant LiveShare Plus™ data collaboration technology. PictureTel's LiveShare Plus is interoperable with Microsoft's NetMeeting®.

By operating on top of existing TCP/IP protocols, LiveLAN packets can be routed without any modifications to your existing network infrastructure. And, through LiveManager, you can monitor and control the amount of bandwidth used for LiveLAN calls throughout your network on a segment-by-segment basis.

Features and Benefits

LiveManager For Conference Management

LiveManager is H.323 gatekeeper-compliant conference management software that allows network managers to tailor the use of video and audio based upon individual network configurations and capacities. Combine LiveManager with LiveLAN's intelligent design and you can confidently bring visual collaboration to the LAN.

LiveManager ensures your network will continue to run smoothly by providing a mechanism to control the amount of network bandwidth used for videoconferencing calls. Also, it automatically facilitates LiveLAN calls using simple aliases or telephone extensions and monitors LiveLAN and LiveGateway calls throughout your network.

LiveManager consists of two components: a client component called "LiveManager Console" that resides on a Windows 95 or NT PC and a server component that is loaded onto a Windows NT 4.0 workstation or server. LiveManager does not require a dedicated server, just some space on an existing server. From the LiveManager Console the network manager monitors and controls the use of LiveLAN, LiveGateway, PictureTel 330, and other H.323 standards-compliant products throughout the network.

Through LiveManager's call routing function, LiveLAN users can dial H.323-based users directly or H.320-based users via a gateway without actually knowing where those clients are or to what network they are connected. On a typical call the user will click on a name in the phone book and then be connected. The details of whether or not the call uses an ISDN gateway or a router are completely invisible to the user.

By optimizing the performance of LiveLAN on your network, LiveManager enhances productivity in work groups, departments, or across an entire campus. And only one LiveManager license is needed per corporate network.
